Newsletter 03 11 2018

Dear Friends,

‘’What do you want me to do for you?’ Jesus asks the blind man. This question is put to every man and woman. In a world where so many desperately seek healing, meaning and purpose, there have always been those who, like Bartimaeus, are prepared to acknowledge their need and rejoicing have ‘followed him along the road’.

We are planning to begin classes for First Communion preparation next month. Please let us know if you have a child of First Communion age.

Today the Journey in Faith classes begin at 5 pm in the presbytery. These are for anyone who would like to learn about the Catholic Church and its teaching.

 Father James

It is now time for Red Mission boxes to be handed in to your respective churches. Thank you.

The Rosary is being said during October. Volunteers are needed to lead at North Walsham. Leaflets on saying the Rosary are available.

Senior Citizens’ Group (NW) At this meeting on Monday, 29th October there will be the Autumn Craft Fair and we hope this will be well attended. Soup, roll and tea or coffee (£4) will also be served.

The next PPC Meeting will be on Tuesday, 30th October and will be held in the Parish Hall at 7.30pm

St Helen’s Coffee Morning takes place on Wednesday of this week, 7th November. The cost is just £1.50 for refreshments and a chat. Proceeds go to local charities. All are most welcome. We look forward to seeing you.

The next Eucharistic Service at St Helen’s, Hoveton, will be at 7pm on Monday 19th November.

An Open Morning at St Francis of Assisi School is on Tuesday, 6th November from 9.30-10.30 am. If you are looking for a place for your child in Reception Class next year there is an information evening on Thursday, 15th November 15th at 7 pm.

Reverse Advent Calendar for the Norwich and Cromer District Foodbanks. The Food Banks are very pleased that we will be taking part again this year. Simply donate one item every day for 25 days in November from the list in each church. These are items that the Food banks really need at this time of year. You can either fill your own box or bag at home or bring the items to church and put them in the collecting boxes provided. They need to be returned by the weekend of 1/2 December at the latest so that they can be distributed in good time for Christmas.

Please note that the Parish, apart from Aylsham, will NOT be taking part in the Samaritan’s Purse Shoe Box appeal this year. If you wish to make up a box you will need to take it to your nearest centre.

Items for the newsletter and the parish diary. If you have details on any forthcoming events taking place in our three communities or news from around the diocese that could be publicised in the weekly bulletin or parish diary, please post these items to the office email address:: sacredheart@computer-assist.net

We pray for all our sick parishioners, including Mary Johnson, Joe Seely, Sheila Hall and Maria Wilby.

We pray for Sheila Watson who died recently; we remember her family and friends at this time. We pray also for all those whose anniversaries occur at this time including: Roger Northway, Charles Thacker, Barbara Stringer, Gordon Summerhill, Reginald Wood, Anthony (Tony) Starmer and Cecil (Harry) Carr. May they rest in peace.
