Dear Friends

We all like to see results. But it doesn’t always happen. It didn’t happen to Ezekiel who was not able to persuade Israel to turn back to the Lord. Paul had to contend with insults and hardships as well as a personal ‘thorn in the flesh’. Even Jesus doesn’t get a hearing from his own people. For God fidelity to his call is more important than successful results. That is the point of today’s parable. The sower of seed has to make the seed generously available: it will take root where it finds good soil. Success is God’s gift. What is needed from the disciple is fidelity.

We welcome Father Luke Goymour who will celebrate the Masses this weekend.

God bless

Father James

.

Today at the 11.00am Mass at the Sacred Heart church we celebrate the First Holy Communion Mass. It will also be a Family Mass.

Today is also Sea Sunday. There will be a retiring collection for the Apostleship of the Sea. Gift Aid envelopes will be available in the porch, also prayer cards.

The Senior Citizens Group (NW) meets on Monday 9th July: there will be the usual morning activities, starting at 11am. In the afternoon there will be a quiz.

The Bible Group meets on Friday 13th in the parish hall at 2.30pm. New members welcome.

Items for the newsletter. If you have details on any forthcoming events taking place in our three communities that could be publicised in the newsletter, please send these items to the office email address sacredheart@computer-assist.net

‘Saturday 28th July will be the occasion of “Father James’ Garden Party” – an enjoyable event for the whole parish to get together for lunch ‘alfresco’ in the grounds of the Sacred Heart. Please add your names to the lists in the porches of our churches. Please note: the donations we have requested are monetary, not items of food. Donations of £5 (and over!) would be gratefully received as substantial meals are going to be provided by the Cockerel, North Walsham.

Area House Mass – 7.00pm at the home of Janet and Terry McIlwee: 11 Hartland Road, Wroxham NR12 8TL. Tel. 01603 782414.

Calais Refugee Sock and Pants Collection – Rob says thanks to all those who have sponsored him to regrow his beard by donating either cash or socks and pants. He has a collection of 57 pairs of pants and 146 pairs of socks. He will take these over to CamCRAG in Cambridge next weekend in time for the Convoy to Calais on the 21st July. If there are any further donations please ensure they are with him by next weekend. Rob and Clare are planning to join the Convoy on the 12-14th October and will have 2 spare seats in their car if anyone else would like to accompany them.

Share the Journey Parish Walk   To recap: A wonderful walk took place in the sunshine along the Weavers Way Sunday fortnight ago and added 156 miles to CAFOD’s ‘Walk Around the World’ in support of refugees. Those who were unable to do the walk supported the stalls in the Parish Hall and all signed cards to be sent to the PM requesting that she work with other world leaders to ensure that global compacts are met on human dignity, protection of the vulnerable, tackling the reasons for migration and keeping families together. £200 has been sent to the Refugee Community Kitchen in Calais.

We pray for all our sick parishioners, including Mary Johnson, Joe Seely and Veronica Williams.

We pray for all those whose anniversaries occur this week including: Stephen Rothon, Audrey Walker, Patrick Treacy, Gloria Moolchan, Angela Brooke and Edward Uden.
May they rest in peace.
