Dear Friends,

Today’s second reading presents a wonderful picture of the heavenly Jerusalem with the angels and the whole church gathered in worship and praise. As members of the Body of Christ we already have our place in the heavenly liturgy.

This weekend there is an appeal for Survive-Miva. This is a Catholic lay association. Its aim is to provide transport for the Church’s health care and pastoral work in places of great need.

Father James

Following the recent forum there will be Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (Exposition) after the 9.30 Mass on Tuesdays at the Sacred Heart Church for about 30 minutes. This will begin on 3rd September.

NB. On Wednesday 4th September there will be no St Helen’s Coffee Morning as the funeral for Liz Smith will take place at that time.

On Monday 9th September at the Sacred Heart Church a Mass with the Anointing of the Sick will be held at 12noon. This is for all three of our communities. If you know of anyone who is sick but able to travel bring them with you.

Copies of the particular issues discussed at the Sacred Heart’s Forum Meeting, held on Sunday 18th August, are now available in the porch. Pick up a copy especially if you were unable to attend in order to be aware of current ‘happenings’ and important issues affecting our church community here.

The annual Bike Ride takes place on Saturday 14th September from 9.00am – 5.00pm run by the Norfolk Churches Trust.  Go to norfolkchurchestrust.org.uk/bike-ride for more information.

A Catholic family is looking for a 3-bedroom property to rent in the Aylsham/Corpusty area. Contact Beth Dvelys on 07539855725 or at: elisabethjensen84@hotmail.com

Calais Refuge Convoy – Rob, Clare and Naomi are planning to join the next CamCRAG Convoy to Calais over the weekend of the 21st September. If anyone has any clothes, particularly waterproof clothing, suitable for very slim men or women that they would like to donate we will be happy to take them over to Calais with us. Old mobile phones, sleeping bags and small tents are also very much in demand; you may like to donate to the Calais Refuge Kitchen who continue to feed at least 1000 refugees every day. Please ring either Clare (01603 897609 or Naomi (01263 834838 for further details.

Support Cambodia’s annual Race Night is at 7pm on Saturday 12th October in the Parish Hall. Tickets (£1) and sponsorship for horses/jockeys will be available after Sunday Masses from next weekend. For more information see posters in the porch and visit www.supportcambodia.org.uk or call Katie on 01263 577784.

Frances Cook would like to thank her friends at the Sacred Heart for all their prayers, messages and cards at this sad time.

We pray for all our sick parishioners: Joe Seely, Maria Wilby, Matt Butler, John Gowing, Teresa Farrow, Tom Ender and Derek Palman.

We pray for Liz Smith. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St Helen’s on Wednesday, 4th September at 12 noon. We pray for all those whose anniversaries occur at this time including: Christina Quinn, Catherine (Kitty) Brooder, Anthony Conrad, Beatrice Turton, Joan (Jean Law, Anthony Bateman, Michael McCarthy, Teresa Moss, Patricia Nelder and Josephine Dady.
May they rest in peace.

The Family of Liz Smith, at her request, would ask those who attend her funeral, kindly not to wear black, please.

Next Family Mass: Sunday 6th October – Harvest Thanksgiving
