FROM THE PARISH PRIEST Remembering Our Dead: In November, it is traditional that we, as Catholics, remember our loved ones who have died. One way to do this is to bless the graves and places of rest of family members and friends. We are fortunate in that we have memorial gardens in all three of our churches – it is correct Catholic teaching that we should never sprinkle ashes, nor turn them into jewellery, split them or leave the ‘lying around’. Ashes and mortal remains should be buried in a cemetery, memorial garden or columbarium. I will bless the individual graves of loved ones in all three of our memorial gardens on the following dates: 01 November (Sunday) – after the 11:00 Mass North Walsham 02 November (Monday) – All Souls’ Day Mass, 9.30 am 04 November (Wednesday) – after the 09:30 Mass Hoveton 06 November (Friday) – after the 09:30 Mass Extraordinary Ministers’ Training and Info Day: There will be a training day on Saturday 14 November for all extraordinary ministers (Communion Ministers) of the Eucharist. The day will be held at Sacred Heart, begin at 10:30 for coffee and registration. First session at 10:45, Adoration and Benediction at 12:00 followed by lunch – with the final session at 1:30 pm to finish at approximately 2:30pm. All those attending will then be commissioned as ministers later this year. Please bring a packed lunch – tea and coffee will be provided. I look forward to a prayerful and enjoyable day. Please keep in your prayers: Please pray for the repose of the soul of Tony Dady, a long-time member of our community at Sacred Heart. May he rest in the Peace of Christ and rise with him in Glory. We extend our deepest sympathy to his family, with the assurance that we will keep them all in our prayers. North Walsham Sound System: Many thanks to people from all three churches (and further afield) who donated money for this project. I am delighted to announce that this has now been installed successfully. Thank you for your generosity. | |
