A WARM WELCOME TO OUR VISITORS. Thank you for joining us for our Mass; we hope you are enjoying your stay in Norfolk. You are welcome to join parishioners for coffee after our Sunday Masses (in Aylsham and North Walsham). Our visitors may like to use one of the “one off” gift-aid envelopes for your collection, available at the back of the church. Many thanks.

THIS SUNDAY  is the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord.  READERS, please note.  We will be beginning our Masses with the blessing of the Light.

We warmly welcome the return of Fr David and members of the group: we trust  that our ties with the community in Svay Sisophon were strengthened and blessed.

SENIOR CITIZENS’ GROUP meets on Monday 3rd February: am. Computer Workshop; pm. “The Man in Black” will give a talk entitled “Ghosts of Ancient Norwich”.

The knitted Crib which was on display in the porch at the Sacred Heart over the Christmas period raised a total of £65 for the Benjamin Foundation.  Many thanks to all who contributed.

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL  meets on Thursday 6th February at 7.15 for 7.30pm in the Presbytery.  Please note change of venue.

STALHAM AREA HOUSE MASS is on 7th February (transferred from 17th January) when it will be held at the home of Celia Cooper: Barnside, Stubb Road, Hickling,  NR12 0YS.  Tel. no. 01692 598667.

BIBLE GROUP’S  next meeting is on Friday 14th February at 2.30 – 4.00pm in the parish hall, using the new series of DVDs on “The New Evangelisation” by Fr Robert Barron – a continuation of his book entitled “Catholicism”.  All welcome.

WHEN NOTIFYING A PRIEST  to visit patients admitted to the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital, all requests should be made to the Cathedral on 01603 624615: however, in a real emergency (for someone near to death) the  Duty Hospital Chaplain’s bleep no. 07623 611 724 may be used.  This number should not be used for general visits.

BISHOP ALAN INVITES YOU to join him in a Mass for the Sick at St John’s Cathedral, in a Celebration of our Lady of Lourdes: this will include the Sacrament of Anointing. It is on Saturday 15th February 2014 at 12noon. Please note. Regrettably, we will not be able to run a coach, there being too few parishioners wishing to travel to the Cathedral by that means: apologies to those few who did sign up.  Parking details outlined next week.

READERS’ ROTAS for North Walsham are ready for collection: please pick up your named copy.

JOURNEY INTO FAITH  There is a meeting on Wednesday 5th February in the Presbytery at 2.30pm.

STUDY DAYS  for the coming year have been organised by the Commission for Evangelisation.  Copies of the programme are available in the porch outlining the nine study days across 2014 to be held in three centres – Newmarket, Peterborough and Poringland. The next Study Day is on 15th February when Maggie Stephenson will be the speaker on “Art and Spirituality.  How to pray great works of art?”  This will be held at St Luke’s Church, Peterborough, PE2 5XS: for more details go to www.saintlukesparish.org.uk  There are also a series of Lenten Lectures held in conjunction with the Catholic chaplaincy at the University of East Anglia.

ECUMENICAL CENTERING PRAYER MEETINGS are fortnightly on Tuesdays: next meeting 11th February at 25 Sendall Road, North Walsham at 2-3pm.  All welcome.  Tel. no. 01692 402398.

DIOCESAN YEAR BOOK with LITURGICAL CALENDAR (Ordo) 2014 is now available in the church porch at the SPECIAL OFFER price of £3.00 – a very useful  booklet, listing Feast/Saints Days and information on the diocese and all its parishes.  An excellent buy!

FOODBANKS  Look out for latest newsletters with lists of most needed items on notice boards at North Walsham and Aylsham.

A CONCERT performed by the Norwich Music Group at St Peter Mancroft Church, Norwich is on Saturday 22nd February at 7.30pm.  The works to be performed are the ever-popular Gloria by Francis Poulenc and the Organ Concerto “The Cuckoo” by Handel plus other smaller favoured pieces.  All profits will be donated to Oxfam.  Tickets £9 (centre); £8 (side); concessions £7; under 18s & students £5. Tickets available from St George’s Music Shop, 17-19 St George’s Street, Norwich.  Tel 01603 626414.  Please see fliers in porches.
