Dear Friends,

Today we celebrate the feast of Pentecost. Fifty days after Easter the Holy Spirit is given in dramatic ways to the apostles. As we celebrate this feast we don’t just look back at past events: we ask that we too may receive that same Spirit in our lives.

What a splendid day we had for the Tea Party! The sun shone, the Pimms flowed, we were inundated with scones and cakes and people came in good numbers. A special thank you to all who prepared and served the food and drink: you did a splendid job!

The Bishops of England and Wales have written a letter to us. They offer some useful pointers to the priorities and values that we look for in any future government. Copies are available for all this weekend.

Father James

Next Sunday, Trinity Sunday, there will be a Family Mass with the children taking major roles in the liturgy.

The Senior Citizens’ Group (NW) meets Monday 5th with the usual activities taking place in the morning, Computer Workshop, chair exercises etc. Lunch will be provided and prepared by Teresa and Andrew. In the afternoon there will be a Quiz.

Reports from the Annual Parish Meeting that took place on Monday 22nd May are now on church notice boards and on the Parish Website.

A plea for help! N Walsham still desperately needs people to clean the church, even if just a one-off offer. It is not a difficult task, only an hour is required. Please, ring Antonia on 01692 406452 if you feel you could help in any way. Thank you.

Support Cambodia would like to thank all who contributed in any way to raising £1,000 for Sister Franny’s Education Programme (Feeding) at the charity’s Plant Sale last weekend. That the target was achieved in one day is an astonishing achievement and the result of the combined efforts of so many people. On behalf of Sister Franny and her team, thank you all very much for ’Supporting Cambodia’.

A House Mass will be held at the home of Clare and Robert Hardie on Friday 9th June at 7pm: Orchard Cottage, Newton Road, Hainford, NR12 8TL. Tel. 01603 897609

NB Please note the correct telephone number.

Young adults’ Pilgrimage to Santiago – ”walking the Camino” The Diocesan Youth Service is organising a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in the last week of July. For those aged 18 – 35 years. For more information see www.rcdea.org.uk/youth

Diocesan Summer Camp 2017 for ages 8 – 14 years from Friday 25th – Monday 28th August at New Eccles Hall School, Norfolk. See posters in our church porches for details.

We pray for Veronica White who died on Monday and we remember her family and friends at this time. We remember too the victims of the tragic events in Manchester last week. We also pray for those whose anniversaries occur this week including: Russell Skipper, Ann Edwards, Elizabeth (Betty) Kelso, Una Youngson, Mary Cushion, Barbara Winfield, Hilda Martin and Patricia Minehan.
May they rest in peace.
