FROM THE PARISH PRIEST
A week in the diocese: This week we saw quite a lot happening in the diocese: on Thursday I was installed as your parish priest, and we had two men ordained to the Sacred Priesthood on Saturday. The two new priests give a bit more stability and longevity to the diocese as a whole and we wish Frs Peter and Anthony every blessing in their priestly life. My induction as parish priest hopefully gives some stability and direction to this area of the diocese as we move into the future and a life of ministry. I thank everyone who attended the induction Mass from all three churches and a direct thank you to the many people who assisted with and organised the Mass and refreshments. I won’t mention names as there is always someone that is left out- but there were many who helped- thank you.
SumUp: In today’s world, we do not always carry cash and so it can be difficult to donate and contribute (or even purchase goods) if we do not have cash and there is no facility to make a payment. To that end, we have invested in a SumUp machine for each church building so that, should you have no cash, you will be able to make a card payment at the end of Mass. This will be available every weekend- simply visit the back of the church and someone will be there with the machine and ready to assist you. You can make a payment in any denomination you wish. The machines will also be available for 2nd collections when we have them. Thank you for your generosity.
North Walsham Gardens: When I arrived, our gardener had retired and we were without a gardener for many weeks. The grounds (especially the memorial garden) were looking very neglected and full of weeds. Shane, our new gardener, started this week and has already made serious inroads into the clearing of weeds and general tidying up. He has said that it will take several weeks to really get it looking smart and where we will notice a difference. It is a big job, and I give Shane my full encouragement.
| PPC AGM Change of Date: The hall will now be used as a polling station on July 16th, following the resignation of the Norfolk Police and Crime Commissioner. The AGM planned for this date has been re-arranged and will take place on Thursday 10th September. Reading at Mass at North Walsham: We are always glad to welcome new readers on to the rota. If you have an interest in joining the regular participants, please mention it to us. We will support you as you begin this Sacred ministry. | Please note: While our phone and internet difficulties persist, the parish office may be contacted at any time via the Parish Hall email: shphallman@outlook.com or phone: 07816 664422 Beetle Drive: The next Parish Beetle Drive will be on Friday 24th July at 6.30pm. £5 entry. We welcome items as contributions to the raffle. Do come and join the fun! |
