Welcome to visitors who may be with us this weekend; we hope you are enjoying your time in beautiful North Norfolk. Do stay for coffee after our weekend Masses and meet some of our parishioners.

We warmly welcome the return of Fr James to the parish after his summer holiday.

The Children’s Liturgy resumes today at Aylsham, next week at North Walsham.

After the 11.00am Mass at the Sacred Heart today a statue of St Jude will be blessed and put in the Memorial Garden together with a plaque to commemorate Marianne MacQueen. Members of Marianne’s family will be present and all are welcome to join them.

The Senior Citizens Group meets on Monday 7th and will be planning the Autumn programme. The Computer Workshop meets at 11.00am.

Our Annual Mass in the Memorial Garden at the Sacred Heart takes place on Tuesday 8th September at 6.00 pm. Everyone is welcome but especially those who have their loved one’s ashes buried there. If it is wet or too cold, Mass will be held in the church. We will need help that evening with setting up the chairs etc. ready for the Mass. If you can help please have a word with Antonia or ring the presbytery. Many thanks.

Choir Practices at St John’s, Aylsham resume on Tuesday 8th September and we would love to have some more singers. No experience is needed, just enthusiasm and commitment. Instrumentalists to play on an occasional basis are also very welcome, especially woodwind or strings. For details ring Katie on 01263 577784.

On Wednesday 9th September, following the 9.30am Mass at Hoveton, the ashes of Tony Dickerson will be interred in St Helen’s Memorial Garden. You are welcome to join Frances.

‘Assisted Dying Bill’ Postcards. On Friday 11th September the debate will be taking place in the House of Commons on a Private Members Bill to legalise assisted suicide. Using the cards, please make contact with our local MP. We need to play our part and ACT NOW by making our views known. Support what we believe to be right.

The Diocesan Newspaper for September is in church porches. FREE.

The Sponsored Bike Ride & Walk is on Saturday 12th September. Information & Sponsor/Donation forms in the porch at North Walsham or go online to: norfolkchurchestrust.org.uk/sponsored-bike-ride Please may we have volunteers to record cyclists/walkers. Please sign up for an hour on the lists provided.

The READERS’ ROTA (for North Walsham) is available at the back of the church. Please pick up your named copy.

NEXT SUNDAY is Racial Justice Day and there will be a retiring collection.

Fundraising for World Youth Day: Kerry and Lauren will be holding a cake sale in the parish hall next Sunday 13th September. Please continue to support them – they’re working really hard to get to Krakaw!

Support Cambodia. If you would like to ‘Support Cambodia’ in a practical way, as a ‘one-off’ or on a regular/occasional basis please contact Bob Maidment on 01263 577784. We also need empty ‘Bon Maman’ jam jars but no other jam jars please.

Many parishioners contribute generously to Support Cambodia and the Trustees would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continued and much-valued support. More information on the above number or on our Facebook page.

The Funeral Service for Irene Harrison, who died a fortnight ago, will take place at St Helen’s, Hoveton, Wednesday 16th Sept at 11.00am.

Please Note: At the Sacred Heart carpark from Monday 14th onwards contractors from Aylsham will be working the whole week on creating proper parking spaces for disabled drivers. Please refrain from parking in that area until the coming Sunday. It will be advisable to enter the grounds via the Exit gate because of lorries and equipment.

We pray for those whose anniversaries occur at this time including: Patricia Nelder, Josephine Dady, Ivan Kulas, Pauline Gilmore, Christopher Beardshaw and Peter Bonsall.

May they rest in peace.
