23rd Week in Ordinary Time 2020
6th – 12th September
When Matthew wrote his Gospel the church was no longer part of the Jewish community with its daily norms and customs. It needed guidelines for its life together. Faith in Jesus and his teachings are the basis for this new community. Since Jesus revealed God to be compassionate and forgiving these qualities are to be at the heart of the Christian community.
This year’s theme of Jubilee for the Earth reflects three related themes: greed, inequality and the destruction of God’s earth. Jubilee is a time to renounce overconsumption and economic systems that threaten our planet as well as marginalizing the poor.
Don’t forget that the Sunday obligation has been suspended. If you wish to attend a Sunday Mass you need to book a place with the co-ordinator for each church:
John Bolger at Sacred Heart – 01692 581516 (bolger@waitrose.com);
Fran Ludden at Aylsham – 07849 602227 (fran.ludden@btinternet.com);
Richard McGreevy, Hoveton – 01603 738255 (richardmcgreevy@supanet.com)
At present there is no need to book a place for a weekday Mass.
Although the confessionals cannot be used I am available for Confession at any time – outdoors if weather permits or inside the church in a quiet corner.
