NEWSLETTER 07.06.25

“Be filled with the Holy Spirit and you’ll never run out of gas!”

Pentecost Year C is a time to reflect on the Holy Spirit and its impact on the early Church and our lives today. The readings focus on the presence and work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers.

On the day of Pentecost: 1) The Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles and the Blessed Virgin Mary as tongues of fire. 2) The frightened apostles were transformed into fiery preachers and evangelizers. 3) The listeners experienced a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit through the apostles’ gift of tongues. 4) The early Christians became powerful witnesses and brave martyrs for their Faith in Jesus. May the Holy Spirit fill our hearts with the power of His love.

Fr. Peter

Parish Event: On Sunday 6th July we are having an International Bring and Share Meal, taking place in the parish hall and grounds of the church. We need to know the numbers involved – if you are going to be there and if able to bring food to share so pl add your name to the list in the church porch. This information we need to know by Sunday 22nd June – last day for signing up. Do join us for this potentially ‘mouth-watering’ parish occasion.

“Hamish MacQueen Live in Concert!” – 19th July 2025 at the Narthex, St John the Baptist Cathedral. Hamish, director of Youth Service, is doing a special gig, sharing about his life and faith through songs he has written over the past 30 years. All ages welcome. Profits will go towards helping young people go on pilgrimage and training young leaders. See www.hamishmacqueen.live for more information. Tickets are expected to sell out fast.

It’s good to sing! The church choir at North Walsham is hoping to increase its numbers – it especially needs male voices. Even with no experience of choral singing, do join us Wednesday evenings at 6.15pm for weekly practice and give it a try! Happy, friendly group – please ring Anne on 01692 404216.

Job Vacancy at the Walsingham Shrine, someone to coordinate pilgrimage planning & provide support for Sacred Liturgy: also overseeing operations of Gift Shop, Tea Room & domestic team, working closely with the General Manager and Rector. To apply, email: recruitment@walsingham.org.uk

The National Churches Trust (NCT) has launched a survey to better understand the challenges churches face and highlight the vital work our churches do. Our Diocesan Heritage Officer, Matthew J. Champion MA.FSA FRHistS (& from the Bishop’s Conference) urges all our parishes to take part. The response provided will be essential evidence in building a clearer picture, tell a more informed story in order to address some of the biggest challenges facing (all) churches and help ensure their future. The more churches that take part, the more the impact. The survey, open to all churches, of all denominations, is live from 6/5/25 – 30/6/25. To take part, or have more information, please go to nationalchurchestrust.org/survey Or ring Josephine Warren (Historic Churches Adviser) on +44(0)20 7901 4880.

We pray for our sick parishioners: Matt Butler, Frances Palman, Mary Bell, Celia Cooper, Marie Barton, Margaret Larkins, Maria Halsey, Joan Macnamara, Richard Skelton, Teresa Fitzmaurice, Joan Gale, Bernadette Saunders, Doreen Rockey & daughter
Sandra, Pam Thornton, Mary Long, Malcolm Akers, Frances Mack,
