“Give God your weakness and He’ll give you, His strength.”

The 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year B readings show us how God works through human weakness and the importance of faith.
These themes help us understand how God empowers us and calls us to trust in Him.
God empowers Ezekiel to speak to the rebellious people of Israel.  This shows that God will make His presence known even if people do not listen.
Paul talks about how his weaknesses are opportunities for Christ’s power to shine.  This teaches us that God’s strength is perfected in our weaknesses.
Jesus is rejected by the people in Nazareth because of His humble background.  This shows how lack of faith can limit what God can do in our lives.

Father Peter

Pope’s intention for the month of July: For the pastoral care of the sick. We pray that the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick confer to those who receive it and their loved ones the power of the Lord and become ever more a visible sign of compassion and hope for all.

Next Sunday is Sea Sunday.  There will be a Second Collection next weekend for Stella Maris.  Gift Aid envelopes are available.

Parish Census.  If there are any parishioners who have not completed a Census form and wish to do so, please contact the parish office by going to rcnwalsham@gmail.com or telephone 01692 403258 (preferably the mornings of Tuesday, Thursday or Friday). Please could forms be returned, in their box files, to the office during week starting Monday 8th July. Thank you.

Eucharistic Ministers from our three churches are asked to attend a meeting on Saturday 20th July from 11.30am – 1.30pm in the hall.

Interested in working with children and young people?  Leaving school or university in the summer and deciding what to do next?  In between jobs, or would like to do something ‘different’?  The Diocesan Youth Service is looking for people aged 18-30 to join the Ignite Team, sharing the Gospel Message with young people. These are full-time positions initially for 12 months with training, food, accommodation and a monthly allowance provided.  For more information see www.rcdea.org.uk/youth

PPC Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting held Thursday 20th June 2024 are available to read on the parish website, also in hard copy in our church porches.  Do pick up a copy to know of the different happenings, state of our church buildings and the proposed events to come – in short, the life of the parish.

The Parish Council is in need of three new representatives, one for each of our three churches. If you know of someone in your church who could fill this role & is happy to do so, please complete one of the Nomination Forms.  It is not an arduous task and attendance required at only 4 PPC meetings a year.

“Sacred Heart’s Got Talent!”  Saturday 27th July at 3pm in the parish hall. Don’t be shy, have a go, and have some fun! Please do speak to Kerry to sign up or request more details.

Parish Photos  If you have photos of parish activities, do let us share them.  To do so, please contact John Bolger on j.bolger8@icloud.com with a view to putting them on our parish website gallery.

We pray for our sick parishioners: Matt Butler, Frances Palman, Mary Bell, Paul Watson, Patricia Newton, Celia Cooper, Marie Barton, Margaret Larkins, Daphne Necchi, Bert Pooler, Maria Halsey, Joan Macnamara, Richard Skelton, Teresa Fitzmaurice, Joan Gale, Bernadette Saunders, Doreen Rockey & daughter Sandra and Pam Thornton; to include others who are sick.

We pray for those whose anniversaries occur this week: Amelia Pinder, Veronica Williams, Stephen Rothon, Audrey Walsker, Gloria Moolchan and Angela Brooke.

May they rest in peace.
