LENT 2013: Please keep your mauve leaflet ‘Lent 2013’to hand; copies are still available at the back of the church. In it you will find dates and times of all the Masses, Services and activities taking place over the coming weeks, events that can help us on our Lenten journey.

Ecumenical Study Course – Hoveton/Wroxham area on Wednesday 13th March at St Helen’s at 7.30pm when Fr David will be leading the discussion “Will the poor always be with us?” It promises to be a thought-provoking event.
STATION MASS: the second of our Station Masses is this Tuesday 12th March at St John of the Cross at 7.30pm. Please make every effort to come along and if you are able to give a lift to others please do offer; equally, if you require a lift, don’t be too shy to request one.
SENIOR CITIZENS’ GROUP – Mon 11th March: am; informal: pm; A talk by Deacon Ron on the history of the Liturgy. Everybody welcome.
HOLY WEEK We will require Readers and Ministers of Communion for the Holy Week Liturgies; also 12 parishioners for the Maundy Thursday evening Mass to have their feet washed (4 from each community). Please sign the lists at the back of the church. Please remember: the Readers’ & Ministers’ lists are to give an indication of the Masses and Services (in total) at which you are going to attend, thus enabling a choice to be made. Also volunteers are required for rereshments after the Vigil Mass.
HOLY WEEK CHOIR As per last year we are planning to form a special choir for the three major Holy Week Services. It is open for anyone from our three communities to come along. Practices will be held on Thursday 21st March at 7.00 -8.30 pm Aylsham, on Saturday 23rd March at 1.15 – 2.45 pm and on Monday 25th March at 7.00 – 8.30 pm both at North Walsham. Do note these dates in your diary.
PARISH RECONCILIATION SERVICE will be held at North Walsham on Saturday 23rd March at 11.00am with an opportunity for Individual Confession. There is also a similar Reconciliation Service at the church of Our Lady of Refuge, Overstrand Rd, Cromer, next Saturday 16th March at 3.00pm.
THE CHRISM MASS will take place in the Cathedral on Wednesday 27th March at 7.30pm: Archbishop Mennini (Apostolic Nuncio) has now asked to come and preside (not to give an announcement of our new bishop!). As usual we will have a coach for parishioners; cost £4: picking up at Aylsham 5.15pm; N Walsham 5.35pm and Hoveton 5.50pm: departing the Cathedral at 9.45pm. Please sign the list at the back of the church: the £4 cost will be collected 27th. For those wishing to travel independently, please remember there is No Parking in the Cathedral parking areas except for Blue Badge holders: they should contact the Cathedral directly (01603 728935) giving their details and making sure that on the day they have the Blue Badge to hand.
Stewards are needed in the Cathedral so if anyone would like to assist with stewarding during the Mass please contact Cathedral House (01603 624615) and report to the resident stewards who will be on duty when they arrive.

CAKES FOR “PROJECT KENYA” On Sunday 17th March after Mass at North Walsham a cake sale will be held in the parish hall in aid of “Project Kenya”. This is a charity set up to raise money for school children to go out to Kenya to help with activities and teach at four schools in Nairobi. Lauren is going from our parish this summer and has to raise her own fare so we need to try and support her.
TAIZÉ LENTEN PRAYER to be held around the Cross at St John’s Cathedral on Sunday 17th March when we will be welcoming a brother from the TAIZÉ Community. Young people (14+) to be there at 6.00 pm. Everyone else is welcome at 7.00 pm. There will be refreshments at 8.00 pm. Flyers in the porch.
“WITNESS TO TRUTH” (the Third Annual Romero Lecture) given by Mrs Jan Graffius is on Tuesday 19th March at 7.00 for 7.30 pm in the Narthex of St John the Baptist Cathedral, Norwich. Admission and refreshments are free. Please see the poster for details at the back of the church.
LOURDES – The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes takes place from 23rd to 30th August this year, organised through the Catholic Association who welcome and care for ‘assisted pilgrims’ and who also encourage individuals to travel to Lourdes as helpers (men/women of all ages).
