“If the Lord is your shepherd, He is sufficient for all your needs.”
The Fourth Sunday of Easter, known as Good Shepherd Sunday, is also the “World Day of Prayer for Vocations”. Each year on this Sunday, we reflect on the image of Jesus as the Good Shepherd, devotedly and kindly taking care of his flock. The readings for the 4th Sunday present Jesus as the Good Shepherd who lovingly lays down His life for His sheep, calling His followers to listen attentively to His voice and follow Him in faithfulness.

This Sunday is Good Shepherd Sunday; a day when we reflect on how the ministry of Christ as Priest, Prophet and Shepherd continues in the Church through the ordained priesthood. Priests do not fall from Heaven ready-made. The call to priesthood needs to be heard, vocations need to be nurtured, and funding is needed to provide for priestly formation. The cost of training a priest is more than £150,000. We all have our part to play in praying and encouraging vocations and in financially supporting for the formation of our future parish priests. Please continue to pray for priestly vocations and be as generous as possible towards the Second Collection on Good Shepherd’s Sunday
