Dear Friends,
“The Eucharist is truly a glimpse of heaven appearing on earth.”
This day is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.
The readings for Corpus Christi Year A focus on the Eucharist. We are reminded that God cared for the Israelites by providing manna. By receiving Holy Communion, we are spiritually fed and united in each other. And in the Gospel of John, Jesus makes it clear that the Eucharist is truly His body and blood, and gives us life.
The Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ or ‘Corpus Christi’ for short was born for the very precise purpose of openly reaffirming the faith of the People of God in the real, substantial and true presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist. It is a feast that was established in order to publicly adore, praise and thank the Lord, who continues ‘“to love us to the end”, even to offering us his body and his blood’ (Sacramentum Caritatis,n. 1).

A very enjoyable AGM meeting/evening was held last Sunday when parishioners from our three churches were able to socialise together, hear more from our guest speakers about our twinned parish, in Svay Sisophon, Cambodia, and generally be brought up-to-date, with our finances from Ken and on the state of the parish from our jocular Chairman. A big ‘thank you’ must go to all who helped make the evening such a success, especially in the provision of exceptional food dishes and in the organisation of both preparation and clearing up that was needed. Thank you to all who in any way contributed.
