“Jesus is the bread of life. Life is found in Him.”
We continue to hear the “Bread of Life” discourse from the sixth chapter of the Gospel of John; we reflect on how our spiritual health is renewed by the frequent and worthy reception of Holy Communion. We are what we eat!
We live in a world where people of all races and creeds are in need of more spiritual sustenance than the physical food. In response to the spiritual hunger of people in his own day, Jesus, in today’s Gospel passage proclaims Himself to be “the Bread of Life that came down from Heaven.” It is through Jesus, the Bread of Life, that we have access to the Divine life during our earthly pilgrimage to God.

Pope’s Intention for the month of August
For political leaders
We pray that political leaders be at the service of their own people, working for integral human development and for the common good, especially caring for the poor and those who have lost their jobs.
Solemnity of the Assumption of the BVM is on Thursday 15th August and is a Holyday of Obligation.
Please help: the Parish Council now needs just two new representatives – one each for Hoveton and North Walsham. If you know of someone in your church who could fill this role and is happy to do so, please complete one of the Nomination Forms in the narthex of your church. Equally, if anyone is interested and wishes to know more, please speak to one of your church’s reps – info. on church notice boards. It is not an arduous task, always very interesting and an honour being involved in the decision making of your parish.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, normally on Thursdays at St Helen’s, will not take place this coming Thursday, it being the Assumption of the BVM. Mass that day at St Helen’s will be at 6pm. Adoration will return the following Thursday at 3pm.
Our annual Mass in the Garden of Remembrance (North Walsham) is on Tuesday 13th August at 6pm. Everyone is welcome. If wet, Mass will be held in the church. We will need help with setting up/putting away of chairs. If you can help please have a word with Antonia or ring the office – 01692 403258
“Family Faith, Food & Fun” Day is on Saturday 17th August, 12pm to 4pm, giving us another occasion when we can all get together as a parish. Please contribute any books, brick-a-brack, cakes, also items for the tombola. We are still in need of volunteers to help, so if willing to give a hand, contact Kerry on 07504 048352.
Also on Saturday 17th, St Helen’s celebrates their Patronal Feast Day – making it a beautiful ending to a very special day in the parish. Do join those at St Helen’s for this celebratory Mass.
