A WARM WELCOME TO ALL OUR VISITORS. Do feel free to stay for coffee after Mass. “One off” gift-aid envelopes for your collection are available at the back of the church for those who would like to use them. Thank you.

Today is Prison Sunday: please take a card from the porch to see how you can help.

The Rosary is said before Mass each Sunday in October; at 10.30 am at the Sacred Heart; at 8.30am at St John’s and prior to Mass at St Helen’s at 5.00pm each Saturday. Please sign the list to lead the Rosary at the Sacred Heart.

Collectors Please count and record numbers at Mass, during October.

Next Sunday is World Mission Day: there will be a 2nd Collection for The Assoc. for the Propagation of the Faith.

HARVEST THANKSGIVING last weekend was a great success and our sanctuaries were beautified with God’s gifts to us. Our thanks go to everyone who was involved; organisers, arrangers and those who donated gifts. The full total for CAFOD will be in next week’s bulletin.

SENIOR CITIZENS’ GROUP meets on Monday(13th): am – Computer Workshop: pm – A visit from John Malley.

A FORUM will be held at St Helen’s, Saturday 18th October after the 5.30pm Mass.

ST HELEN’S 4TH WEDNESDAY CLUB for senior citizens meets on 22nd October. Coffee is at 11.30am, a simple hot lunch at 12.30pm, finishing with tea and cake at 4.00pm. This month we will be bringing along suitable items and filling the shoeboxes for the Christmas Child Appeal. All over 60s are welcome: cost: £2.00

MASS INTENTIONS  Please note: the specially printed envelopes should be used & filled in fully. Fr James needs to know from which of our 3 church communities a Mass Intention is requested.

MINUTES of the Parish Pastoral Council meeting of 26th June ‘14 are now on church notice boards and on the parish website. Nominations are requested for 2 PPC representatives, one for St Helen’s and one for St John’s. Nomination forms are at the back of each church. Please would you ensure that completed nomination forms are handed to Fr James by the end of October in order that a ballot can be held before the next PPC meeting in November.

“TREE OF DREAMS & VISIONS” the Parish Pastoral Council will be studying exactly what parishioners have expressed on the leaves and at the next meeting will see how it can be put into practice, so as to enrich our parish life.

A FEDERATION HEAD is required for: St Benet’s Catholic Primary School, Beccles and St Edmund’s Catholic Primary School, Bungay. For details please go to Diocesan Website: www.catholiceastanglia.org

THE INDUCTION OF FR DAVID by Bishop Alan Hopes takes place on Friday 31st October at 7.30pm at the Church of St Henry Morse, Diss. Numbers are limited, only 15 from each parish as the church at Diss is small.

A BIG ‘Thank you’ to Liz Smith for arranging the beautiful Harvest Flower Festival, with particular thanks to those from St Helen’s, St John’s and The Sacred Heart who arranged such wonderful displays and very grateful to all those who baked cakes for our visitors. Also thanks go to David Shippey who volunteered to play the organ and contributed beautiful music for our pleasure.

CAMBODIA NEWS: see the latest on the Cambodia boards or on the parish website under ‘Cambodia Blog’. Fr Philip Shryane is presently on sabbatical in Cambodia. You can follow his work in Siem Reap at  http://frphilipincambodia.blogspot.com

Message from Marianne: “I want to thank everyone for their prayers and to tell you that recent tests have shown that the cancer has not spread and is treatable with radiotherapy. I am booked in for a four week course throughout November, meanwhile I am at home trying to put on some weight and to build up my strength. Please continue to remember me in your prayers”.

We pray for all those whose anniversaries are at this time including: Wladislaw (Val) Tanistra, Catherine (Kay) Higgs, Arthur Herbert Pitman, David Evan Pugh and Edward Viccars-Barber.   May they rest in peace. Amen.

Thank you for a splendid party last Sunday which made me feel truly welcome!  The two Harvest Suppers were great fun and very enjoyable. Father James
