Newsletter 14.04.19.

Dear Friends,

This week which we call Holy is central to the Church’s year. During these days we recall in the liturgy the journey of Jesus to his passion and death on the cross culminating in his glorious resurrection. It is the one time in the year when our three communities come together over the three days of the Triduum to relive the saving events of our salvation. Palm Sunday begins that journey when we recall the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem and we listen to St Luke’s account of the Passion.

God bless

Father James

Lenten Alms in all our three communities are for the Church in Need: there are collection baskets at Aylsham and Hoveton and at North Walsham a wall slot.

In answer to CAFOD’s Appeal for the victims of the disaster in Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi the total our parish raised now amounts to £1,194.01. .

Altar Servers from the three churches are welcome to serve at the Holy Week Services at the Sacred Heart in North Walsham.

Good Friday Processions of Witness. At North Walsham – gather at the Market Cross at 9.45 am: at Aylsham at Bure Valley railway at 9.30am and at Hoveton at St John’s Church Hoveton at 10.00am.  The Sacred Heart will be hosting refreshments in the parish hall at the end of the North Walsham walk.

We are still considering the possibility of introducing a forum at North Walsham, similar to Aylsham and Hoveton. This idea will be reconsidered at a later time after Easter.

Easter Sunday Mass at the Sacred Heart Church at 11.00am is a Family Mass when the children take major roles in the liturgy.

The Chrism Mass takes place on Tuesday 16th at 7.00pm. A reminder that the coach will leave our churches at the following times: Aylsham at 5.15pm; North Walsham at 5.35pm and Hoveton at 5.50pm. Please be punctual as the driver will not be able to wait for late-comers. A fare of £5 will be taken on the coach and a collection for the driver’s tip will be taken on the return journey. The coach leaves the Cathedral at approx. 9.45pm.

St Mary & St Peter Catholic Primary school, Gorleston require a Head Of School for September 2019 or later by negotiation. For full details please apply to the parish office.

In North Walsham on Holy Saturday the Blessing of Food will take place at 2.00pm in the Sacred Heart Church. This is a custom particularly for the Polish community who come to have their food for Easter Sunday blessed but anyone in the parish is most welcome.

St Helen’s 60th Anniversary Celebrations. A further list is available for parishioners at Aylsham who would like to come along on Friday 3rd May to join the celebrations. Please sign and return to Hoveton.

Please sign CAFOD’s online Petition to the Prime Minister for urgent climate change action to limit global temperature rise to 1.5C. Go to cafod.org.uk and choose climate under the heading of Campaign or sign on CAFOD Petition form of collective signatures.

We pray for all our sick parishioners: Mary Johnson, Joe Seely, Maria Wilby, Frances Palman, Thomasina Hopkins, Matt Butler, Peter Lloyd, John Gowing and Teresa Farrow.

We pray for all those whose anniversaries occur at this time including: Betty Paul, Joseph Clark, Eric Hall, Mario Vanzino, Dorothy Pooler, Bertram (Bert) Alley and Inga Courtenay.
May they rest in peace.

Suggestions for Lent. Come and join with our three communities as we come together for the Holy Week Triduum at the Sacred Heart
