Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of Our Lady. ‘Of all women you are the most blessed’’. The words of Elizabeth express the place of Mary in the history of salvation. Because she was linked so closely to the redeeming incarnation of the Son of God, Mary also shared in his resurrection. Today’s feast celebrates the transition of Our Lady to be reunited with her divine son. She shares with him the unity of body and soul after earthly life which helps us to anticipate that moment of our own when our souls and bodies will once again be reunited at the end of time. Where Mary has gone, we hope to follow, the liturgy tells us.

Journey in Faith. This is a series of meetings led by Father James, for those who wish to explore the teaching of the Catholic church. They will include adults who have never been baptised, people who have been baptised in another Christian denomination who are looking to become Catholics and those who have returned to the church, often after many years, who would like to have a refresher course! The sessions take place in the presbytery on Sunday evenings at 6 pm. They are informal with opportunities for asking questions. The first session will be on 5th September.
The annual Mass in the Memorial Garden (NW) is on Tuesday 17th August at 6.00pm. Everyone is welcome but especially those who have their loved one’s ashes buried there. We would be very grateful for any volunteers to help with the chairs. Many thanks.
