NEWSLETTER 16.06.24

14/06/2024 by John

“When we work, we work.  When we pray, God works.”

The readings for the 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year B, focus on faith, growth, and humility.  The messages show God’s power to nurture and transform lives, encouraging us to trust and follow Him.

God’s Nurturing Power:  God takes a small shoot and grows it into a great tree.  This shows His ability to nurture small beginnings into something great.

Faith and Trust:  We are called to walk by faith, not by sight.  Trusting in God’s plan, even when we cannot see the outcome, pleases Him.

Father Peter

This weekend there is a Second Collection for the work of Life Charities.

The annual Parish Meeting will be held this coming Thursday, 20th June at 7.00pm in the parish hall.  North Walsham parishioners are due to provide the main course, Hoveton the desserts and Aylsham will serve teas & coffees plus organize the washing up. Please could any-one bringing a dish also provide a list of the ingredients. The hall will be open that day from 1.00pm. Please sign the list in your church porch if a) attending b) bringing food, or, for Aylsham parishioners, serving teas/coffees etc.

Once established the group will be looking for someone to manage and generally run the meetings and organize the activities.  If anyone feels they can give their time and find genuine interest in leading such a group please ring Art on 07931 891278 or email: artfwilliams@outlook.com

Family Picnic at St John’s Cathedral on Sunday, 23rd June.  All those interested in St Francis are welcome to join secular Francis-cans on Sun. 23rd from 12.30pm – 2.00pm at the Cathedral for a ‘bring your own’ family picnic. Afterwards, we will then walk to Mother Julian’s Shrine, returning to St John’s for Vespers and Mass.

Future Parish Events:

“Sacred Heart’s Got Talent!”   Do you have a talent you wish to share with the parish?  Then come and show us at “Sacred Heart’s Got Talent”, talent show!  Free for everyone and anyone can enter on Saturday 27th July at 3pm in the parish hall. Please speak to Kerry to sign up or for more details!

“Family Faith, Food & Fun” Day.  On Saturday 17th August we will be having a “faith, food & fun” day at the Sacred Heart, NW., 12.pm – 4pm.  The plan is to have lots of stalls and games but mainly to bring a sense of community to the 3 churches!  I am in need of volunteers so please, if you’re willing to help, contact Kerry on 07504 048352.

Invitation from St Joseph’s, Sheringham.  Three young boys from Sudan and Afghanistan will be visiting St Joseph’s Catholic Church on Monday, 17th July at 5pm when they will be telling of their experience as refugees in those countries.  They will also be cooking a meal of rice & lamb – no charge! – for those present.  Our parishioners are warmly invited to join them for this interesting evening.  A donation is requested for The School of Joy Beit Sahour.

We pray for our sick parishioners: Matt Butler, Frances Palman, Mary Bell, Paul Watson, Patricia Newton, Celia Cooper, Marie Barton, Margaret Larkins, Daphne Necchi, Bert Pooler, Maria Halsey, Joan Macnamara, Richard Skelton, Teresa Fitzmaurice, Joan Gale, Bernadette Saunders, Doreen Rockey and daughter Sandra and Pam Thornton; to include others who are sick.

We pray also for those whose anniversaries occur this week: Peter Kelly, Catherine Bateman, Willian (Jack) Price, Angela Upton, Marie José Adcock, Vera Phipps, Margaret Price, Elizabeth (Betty) Broom, Anne Sibley and Mary Gurney.

May they rest in peace.
