Dear Friends,

During Holy Week our whole parish has come together for the three days that make up the Triduum: – Thursday evening, Friday afternoon and Saturday evening. Today, thanks to the kind help of Father Denys Lloyd, each community can celebrate the resurrection of the Lord. The Gospel reading shows how unexpected an event it was – amazement, confusion – ‘they have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him’. It is John who realises what has happened .The body of Jesus could not have been taken away. For him the abandoned tomb and folded grave-cloths can only mean one thing: the Lord is alive, and it is John’s faith that takes hold of the others.

I shall be in Liverpool for a short break from 22nd to 29th April.

A happy Easter to all!

Father James

Congratulations and welcome to James Ellis and Adam Guscott who were baptised at the Easter Vigil and Carol Weyman who was received into full communion of the Church.

The Collection at Masses this weekend is your Easter gift to Fr James.  Please keep all general contributions for the parish until the following week.

Young people in Year 8 upwards are invited to the Ignite Festival organised by the diocesan youth service. It will take place at Swaffham over the weekend 30th April – 1st May with a pilgrimage walk on 2nd May to Walsingham.

Every Sunday from 10.30am Faithful Flames Children’s Group meets in the parish hall at the Sacred Heart – for all children up to the age of 16.  Would be great to see you!  Kerry – 0750 4048352.

The Children’s Pilgrimage to Walsingham takes place on Tuesday 31st May 2022 led by Bishop Alan.  Owing to the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations the annual Diocesan Pilgrimage has been moved to the same date as the Children’s Pilgrimage; the aim will still be to give our children a special and memorable time. Please see poster for details. Lists will be available later.

A Farewell Mass organised by the secular Franciscans will be held  at St George’s, Norwich, on Thursday 21st April at 12noon to mark the departure of Rob and Clare Hardie for New Zealand.  All are welcome.

Thank you all for your generous donations to the CAFOD Family Fast Day this Lent. Our parish raised a fantastic £1,298.77!

Minutes of the PPC meeting held on 15th March 2022 are now available to view online on the church’s website.  There are also some printed copies in church porches.

There is a vacancy for the post of Director of Operations & Finance for Diocese of East Anglia.  Please see diocesan website for more details – www.rcdea.org.uk

We pray for our sick parishioners: Matt Butler, Frances Palman, Mary Bell, Monica Hawley, Mary Carr, Paul Watson, Cyril Shenton and Patricia Newton.

We pray for Catherine Baker who died recently and for those whose anniversaries occur this week: Eric Hall, Mario Vanzino, Dorothy Pooler, Anthony Middlecoat, Ida Dufour, Bertram (Bert) Alley, Inga Courtenay, Winifred (Freda) Edwards, Joan Sims, Anne Papendick, Peter Quinlan,  Alfred Pycroft, Bernard Lipscombe  and Anthony Kelly.
