Dear Friends

We all love stories. Jesus used stories or parables to explain profound truths. His audience was made up chiefly of simple country people who were familiar with work on the land. Today’s parables illustrate how God presence in the world is alive and dynamic.

The annual Parish General Meeting (meal with AGM) was to have taken place on Monday. However quite a lot of our parishioners will be away this coming week and not many people have signed up for it. This is an important event in the life of our parish. It brings all three communities together for an enjoyable meal and an update on parish policies and finance. It will now take place on Sunday, 7th October after the 11 am Mass. Come for your Sunday lunch!

Today there is a Civic Service at 3 pm in the parish church in North Walsham. I shall be there to represent the Catholic community: any other parishioners are of course welcome to attend.

Father James

Today is the Day for Life. There will be a retiring collection.

Next Sunday there will be a retiring collection for Peter’s Pence.

The Senior Citizens Group (NW) Monday 18th, will be leaving at 12 noon for a picnic at Ebridge Mill.

Saturday, 23rd June Carmelite Pilgrimage to Walsingham beginning with a talk from Fr Matthew Blake and Mass at 12 noon. See poster for details.

Monday 25th June will be the Senior Citizens Group’s annual Pilgrimage to Walsingham.  All parishioners and friends are welcome to join us. There is a £5 donation towards the cost of the coach. For further details or to book your place (before 18th June for coach numbers) please contact Teresa on 01692 405007 or 07901 830327.

‘Share the Journey’ – Parish Walk: on Sunday 24th June to ‘Share the Journey’ with people fleeing war, persecution, natural disaster and poverty.” as requested by Pope Francis. CAFOD’s aim is that all the walks of every individual will add up to 24,9000 miles, the distance around the whole world. It takes place after the 11 am Mass and coffee in the Hall; (there is also a cake stall, tombola and book stall to raise funds for the Refugee Community Kitchen in Calais). We then walk approx. 2-3 miles along the Weavers Way towards Felmingham, stop to eat our packed lunches and return to North Walsham. For more info see: cafod.org/sharethejourney Post of Learning Support Assistant required at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School, Norwich. Application form/job description are available on office@st-francisofassisi.norfolk.sch.uk Closing date, Friday 29th June; interview date, Tuesday 10th July 2018.

Advance Notice. Saturday 28th July will be the occasion of “Father James’ Garden Party” – an event for the whole parish to get together for lunch ‘alfresco’ in the grounds of the Sacred Heart. Lists will be put out shortly for those wishing to come along to sign.   A date to mark in your diary!

Other important dates for your diaries:
