Dear Friends,

Today’s Gospel is about Martha and Mary who welcome Jesus into their home. Mary is commended for focusing on the one thing necessary: to listen to the words of Jesus and to act upon them. Yet Martha’s role is also important – someone needs to do the housework and the cooking! Martha and Mary – service and listening – both are needed. Do not listen without serving. Yet, equally, do not serve without listening.

CAFOD has launched an appeal for the people of Ethiopia who are suffering a severe famine. Special envelopes are in the porches of our three churches. If you wish to donate please put your donation in with (and in addition to!) the weekly collection. This appeal will be open for the next week.

Father James

Today Deacon Chris Brighten will speak at all the Masses about Missio. This is not an appeal with a retiring collection but he will have lots of red boxes to give out to good homes!

Laudato si. Today is the fifth of five sessions of discussions and reflection on the Pope’s letter on global issues that affect us all, held in the hall from 5 – 6pm. It is for the whole parish: all are welcome.

The Senior Citizens Group in North Walsham meet on Monday 18th for their usual activities. After lunch they will be having their first “Sports Day”!

Minutes of the PPC Meeting of 28th June are now on the website and on church notice boards.

Parish Support Group: don’t forget we have a support group that can be reached on 0790 931 9646 or 0790 183 0327

Bikes, Vacs & Tools. After a generous response to this appeal to help refugees/asylum seekers in Norwich, we will be collecting the bikes during the next two weeks. When they are assembled in Fr James’ garage, they will be collected by English+, the project we are assisting. Thanks again! Any queries telephone John & Hilary on 01692 581516 or email bolger@waitrose.com
