Dear Friends,

‘Lord, teach us to pray’. The request of the apostles chimes in with our own need to go to Jesus as a master of prayer. In response he shares with them – and us – his own prayer to his Father (and our Father). To pray is not to impose our will on God but to ask him to reveal his will to us. It is to ask him to change us, to form us as his children. ‘Ask…search…knock’; these words underline the need to persevere in prayer and not to lose courage. Prayer should be endlessly patient.

Father James

The Senior Citizens Group meets on Monday 25th (their last meeting until the Autumn) when they will be going for lunch to the Bluebell Restaurant. Meetings will resume on Monday 5th September.

Minutes of the PPC Meeting of 28th June are now on the website and on church notice boards.

Safeguarding in the Parish. It is vitally important that every parish has up-to-date information regarding those who, through their work in the parish, have contact with children or vulnerable adults. This applies particularly to ministers of the Eucharist and those involved in children’s liturgy or sacramental preparation. New volunteers will need a DBS check and existing checks will need to be updated. Charlotte Collison is the parish safeguarding rep and she can arrange for these checks to be done. You can contact her by email at: safeguardingnorthwalsham@gmail.com

Parish Support Group: don’t forget we have a support group that can be reached on 0790 931 9646 or 0790 183 0327

When notifying a priest to visit patients admitted to the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital, all requests should be made to the Cathedral on 01603 624615: however, in a real emergency concerning patients at the hospital (and only for someone near to death) the Duty Hospital Chaplain’s bleep no. 0762 361 1724 may be used. We pray for those whose anniversaries occur during this week including: Terence John Green, Anthony Randall, Florence Cullingford, Victor Azzaro, Edmond O’Flaherty, Mary Bianco and Derek Rayfield .
May they rest in peace.
