NEWSLETTER 18.07.21

16/07/2021 by John

Dear Friends,

The disciples come back to their Master from their missionary travels: he alone can give meaning to their lives, substance to their words and an added dimension to their labours. Surely a time for rest and recollection. But by taking pity on the crowds Jesus shows two things: his own tenderness for the people and the total commitment that he asks of his followers.

Father James

At the Sacred Heart all Masses are accessible from your computer. Click here, or go to the parish website and click on ‘Live Streaming’.

If you wish to attend a Sunday Mass you need to book a place with the co-ordinator for each church. Important: Should you find you are unable to attend please make contact with your co-ordinator to cancel that booking and ‘free up’ a place for somebody else.

Co-ordinators
John Bolger at N.Walsham: 01692 581516 (bolger@waitrose.com)
Fran Ludden at Aylsham: 07849 602227 (fran.ludden@btinternet.com)

The end of Covid restrictions. From Monday, July 19th most legal restrictions will be lifted in England. Our bishops have now provided guidelines for us. This advice will be on what we can do in order to maintain a safe environment in our churches. Each of our three churches will discuss how we should move forward in an informal forum. This will take place after the Masses this weekend as well as after the Masses on weekdays so that everyone can have a voice.

The afternoon in the garden at North Walsham will be held on Saturday 24th July from 2 – 5pm.  This is a great opportunity for all three of our communities to come together socially. Also to meet my family who will be here over that weekend. It would be helpful if you could continue to add names and contact numbers, if outstanding, of those who can help with teatime refreshments – cakes, etc.
Lists are in church porches to give us some idea of numbers.  Please add your name to the list if you wish to attend.

Readers of the Word:  At the Sacred Heart we are truly in short supply of readers so would urge people to consider whether or not they could add to the few and take on this important ministry – it is a very rewarding experience for the reader. We are hoping to draw up rotas shortly so please let Fr James or Antonia know if you would like to read in church.

Our annual Mass in the Memorial Garden  (North Walsham) takes place on Tuesday 17th August at 6.00pm.  Everyone is welcome but especially those who have their loved one’s ashes buried there.  If it is wet, Mass will be held in the church.  We will need help that evening with the setting up and putting back of the chairs.  Nearer the time, if you are able to help please let Antonia know.  Many thanks.

PPC Minutes are now available on the parish website: click here. Copies are available on request.

Lunchtime recitals are being held at St Nicholas Church in North Walsham on Thursdays at 12.30pm throughout the month of July. Admission is free and you are welcome to bring your own lunch.  Please see poster for details.

We pray for our sick parishioners: Matt Butler, Derek and Frances Palman, Mary Bell and Mary Carr.

We pray for those whose anniversaries occur at this time including: John Scoley, Irene Harrison, Eva Dooney, Frank Diamond and Terence Green.

May they rest in peace.
