FROM THE PARISH PRIEST
Parish AGM: On Thursday evening, approximately 40 people from all three church communities met at Sacred Heart for the Annual General Meeting of the parish.  We started with a buffet of cheeses, drinks and desserts and then settled down to the business of the day,  Reports were given by the chairman of the finance committee, the chairwoman of the PPC, chairwoman of the Hall committee and the parish priest.  It was a really good exercise to learn just how much we have accomplished as a community and how active our small corner of North Norfolk really is.   Thank you to everyone who keeps this parish vibrant through volunteering, general work and your prayers that sustain us.    
The Sacraments of the Church: First Holy Communion:  If you have a child who is eligible for FHC classes and you would like to enrol them for classes then please let me know (via email) over the next three weeks.  I will need to pass your details to our catechists so that they can make contact with you, so please indicate in your email that I have your permission to do so.  
Confirmation: The same as above – please let me know so I can inform the catechists.  
Catholicism Today:  I will be starting the RCIA programme for adult instruction on Friday the 16th of October. These classes are for anyone who wishes to become a Catholic or for people who are already catholic but wish to find out more about their faith or would like a refresher on matters of faith. I anticipate having our first meeting at 6pm at the presbytery and then, depending on numbers, find a time and venue that suits the majority of people who wish to attend to minimise the number of journeys on the cold winter’s nights.  I would hope to only host ONE series of classes in the parish. The classes are quite informal with plenty of time for discussion and questions throughout – but they are structured and run along a curriculum so that our time is fruitful and worthwhile.  Please register your interest by sending me an email over the next few weeks.There is no charge for the course, however, I will encourage attendees to purchase one or two books that will help them in terms of reference and teaching.  
North Walsham Churches Together Christmas Day Lunch has been an event in the town for over thirty years.  Its aim is to ensure that no resident of our town has a lonely Christmas Day but can join with others in a welcoming space for a traditional meal.  If you, or someone you know, has not been before and will be alone on Christmas Day, please request an invitation by posting a note with their name, address and a contact email or phone number to: CTNW Christmas Meal, 32 Youngmans Close, North Walsham, NR28 9JQ Email address : ctnw.christmas@gmail.com  Fund Raising for the Sound System:   The sound system will be installed soon, but donations will still be very much appreciated.  This is an exciting development and an example of our commitment to joining in projects to benefit our church community.  
Harvest Festival: The Harvest Festival at Sacred Heart will be held on Sunday 4 October.  This year the focus will be contributions to the North Norfolk Foodbank.  Please see the shopping list at the back of the church for appropriate donations.  All items  should be put into the basket at the front. No plastic bags or containers please!  Fresh produce will be welcome and will be sold after Mass.  We hope for a beautiful display!
