Dear Friends,

Today’s Gospel is about the need to pray continually. St John Henry Newman once wrote, ‘Prayer is to the spiritual life what the beating of the pulse and the drawing of the breathy are to the life of the body’. These words reflect his firm conviction that Christ dwells in the heart of every Christian, calling each of us to holiness.

The Journey in Faith course will begin on Sunday, 3rd November at 5 pm in the presbytery. It is for those who wish to explore the teaching of the Catholic Church as well as anyone who would like to have a ‘refresher’ course.

 Father James

Today (Sunday) is World Mission Day. We support with our prayers and finance those who live out their vocation to spread the Gospel in many different parts of the world. There will be a retiring collection taken for Missio (Association for the Propagation of the Faith).

St Helen’s Forum takes place after this Saturday Mass (19th) October. Please come along if you want to share what is going on at the moment! The meeting will last 30 minutes at the most.

The Rosary will be said in each of our churches this month.

At St Helen’s there will be a Eucharistic Service at 7pm on Monday 21st October. All are welcome.

Collectors – Please note that during October we need to take a Mass count in each of our churches and record the numbers on the sheet provided at the back of the church.

It’s time to return your Missio Collection Boxes: please hand them over to Peter Adamson (Ayls); Maureen Keane (Hov) and Sue Perrott (N.W) over the next two or three weeks. Thank you.

St Helen’s 4th Wednesday Club for senior citizens next meets on 23rd October. At 11.30am you may join us for coffee, at 12.30pm a simple hot meal is served, followed by a free raffle, social activities and games. We finish at 4.00pm with tea and cake. New members are always welcome. All of this for £2.50 – why not come along for a “taster session” to find out if you would like to join us.

The Parish Pastoral Council will meet on Tuesday 22nd October at 7.15pm for 7.30pm. The meeting is at St Helen’s, Hoveton.

From: St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School, Norwich, Head of School: Felicity Hope. Tel. No. 01603 441484. Reception Class Intake September 2020. Information Evening. If you are interested in a place for your child in the Reception Class at our school in September 2020, we would like to invite you to an information meeting (without your children if possible) at school on Thursday 14th November 2019 at 7pm.

CAFOD Faith in Action Day – “Love is Civic and Political”. A day to explore the links between faith and politics, to reflect on scripture and Church teaching and be inspired by others and CAFOD’s campaigning and work overseas. Saturday 16th November, 10am – to 4pm. At Clare Priory, Clare, Sudbury, CO10 8NX. Soup & roll lunch provided. If you wish to attend sign up via: cafod.org.uk/Campaign/Campaign-events

We pray for all our sick parishioners: Joe Seely, Maria Wilby, Matt Butler, John Gowing, Teresa Farrow, Tom Ender, Derek Palman, Lesley Jarvis and Mary Carr.

We pray for all those whose anniversaries occur at this time including: John Perrin, Margaret (Peggy) Trevallion, Adrian (Ted) Frye, Frank Taylor, Irene Przybyla, Henry Honey, Joan Weston and Anthony (Tony) Crouch.
May they rest in peace.

Next Family Mass: Sunday 3rd November
