NEWSLETTER 21.07.24

19/07/2024 by John

“The world shapes human nature, but the Lord can change human nature.”

On the 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year B, the readings highlight God’s care for His people and the unity brought by Christ. They show how God promises to guide and protect us, breaking down barriers and giving us peace. The readings also challenge us to use our God-given authority in the family, in the Church, and in society, with fidelity and responsibility. Today, pastoral ministry includes not only the pastoral care given by those named or ordained as “pastors,” but the loving service given by all Christians who follow different callings to serve and lead others.
We congratulate Jeswel and Juwel on receiving their First Holy Communion and with great joy we welcome little Jeswina Jeehadu into our Catholic Church.

Father Peter

Pope’s intention for the month of July For the pastoral care of the sick. We pray that the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick confer to those who receive it and their loved ones the power of the Lord and become ever more a visible sign of compassion and hope for all.

The Parish Council is in need of three new representatives, one for each of our three churches. If you know of someone in your church who could fill this role & is happy to do so, please complete one of the Nomination Forms.  It is not an arduous task and attendance required at only 4 PPC meetings a year.

House Mass at the home of Cathy & Ken Watkins on Tuesday 30th July at 3pm. Address: 9 Wilson Road, Stalham, NR12 9FL. Tel. 01692 580889.

“Sacred Heart’s Got Talent!”  takes place this coming Saturday, 27th July at 3pm in the parish hall. Let’s make it a fun-packed, happy occasion for our parish – an opportunity for our three communities to come together, in gratitude for the many benefits we share.  Still time to sign up, just speak to Kerry and find out more details on 07504 048352.

Looking ahead: see poster for dates of coming events.

“Family Faith, Food & Fun” Day – another occasion when we can all get together as a parish, Saturday 17th August, 12pm to 4pm.  We are still in need of volunteers to help, so if willing to give a hand, contact Kerry on 07504 048352.

Additional dates:
Memorial Garden Mass (NW) Tues 13th August at 6pm.
Norfolk Churches Trust Sponsored Bike Ride 14th Sept.

Readers’ rotas (N.Walsham), covering the next three months, are now available in the church porch. Please pick up your named copy.

Rita Ganney would like to say ‘thank you’ for her cards and gift for her 80th birthday.

Mass Intentions  Please give as much notice as possible, even for a weekday Mass. Also remember, funerals will always take precedence even over long standing bookings, as will Foundation Masses. Indicate in which church and if deceased. However, every effort will be made to obtain the preferred date.

We pray for our sick parishioners: Matt Butler, Frances Palman, Mary Bell, Paul Watson, Patricia Newton, Celia Cooper, Marie Barton, Margaret Larkins, Daphne Necchi, Bert Pooler, Maria Halsey, Joan Macnamara, Richard Skelton, Teresa Fitzmaurice, Joan Gale, Bernadette Saunders, Doreen Rockey & daughter Sandra, Pam Thornton, Inge O’ Toole and Mary Cockburn; also to include others who are sick and their families.

We pray for those whose anniversaries occur this week: Frank Diamond,Terence Green, Anthony Randall, Florence Cullingford and Victor Azzaro.  May they rest in peace.
