Dear Friends,

On this feast of Corpus Christi we celebrate the gift of the Eucharist to the Church. The second reading makes a clear link between the Last Supper and the sacrifice of Christ on Calvary (the Paschal Mystery). The Gospel reading tells the story of the feeding of the multitude. It shows that Jesus is the source of nourishment for those who follow him and who listen to his words. It is appropriate that we also welcome five of our children to the table of the Eucharist as they make their First Holy Communion at the Sacred Heart church at a Family Mass.

Next Sunday is another celebration. This is to mark Deacon Ron’s 40th anniversary of his ordination as a permanent deacon. After the 11 am Mass everyone is welcome to join Ron and Inge for a reception in the parish hall.

Father James

Friday 28th June we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Patronal Feast Day at North Walsham and that of our entire parish. Please note: the Friday 9.30am Mass, normally said at Aylsham, will for this occasion be held at 10.00am at the Sacred Heart Church.

Tomorrow, Monday 24th June, the Senior Citizens will be having their annual Pilgrimage to Walsingham, led by Fr James. The coach will leave North Walsham at 10am and for the return leave Walsingham at 3pm.   £5 is asked for as a donation towards the cost of the coach.

St Helen’s 4th Wednesday Club next meets on 26th June. We serve coffee at 11.30am, a simple hot lunch at 12.30pm followed by a free raffle, social activities and games. Tea and cake is served at 4pm; all senior citizens are welcome. The cost of £2.50 covers everything.

As part of a LiveSimply parish you might be interested in a program on BBC1 at 9 pm on Monday: War on Plastic.

On Wednesday 26th June there will be a CAFOD coach taking people from our Diocese to join a Mass Lobby of Parliament and Climate Pilgrimage. (More details at cafod.org.uk/climatelobby) Please continue to sign the petition forms to the Prime Minister for the UK to reach zero emissions by 2045.

Summer Camp 2019 for 8-14 year olds is on again this year from Friday 23rd to Monday 26th August. Time is running out! However, the closing date is around mid-July. Please be quick and book your child in so they don’t miss out! For all information contact Lorraine Furmedge by emailing diocesansummercamps@gmail.com or ring Kerry Thorpe on 07504048352.

The next PPC meeting (Parish Pastoral Council) will be on Tuesday 9th July in the Sacred Heart parish hall, starting time 7.30pm.

There will be an Exhibition of Icons at St Peter’s Church, Corpusty from 28th June to 5th July with works by one of our parishioners, Judith James. Well worth a visit! See poster for more details.
