21st Week in Ordinary Time 2020
23rd – 29th August
In today’s Gospel Peter confesses the deep mystery of Jesus Son of God. He receives the name which defines his vocation: as corner-stone of the Church he will confirm his brothers in their faith in the risen Christ. We too are confirmed in our Catholic faith by our allegiance to Peter and his successors.
Bishop Alan will preside at a Requiem Mass for Deacon Ron O’Toole at the Sacred Heart church on Thursday, 27th August at 11.30 am. This will be followed by a service at Cromer crematorium at 1 pm. Under the current restrictions numbers are limited to 30 at each of the services and Ron’s family will, of course, have priority. The coffin will come to the church on Wednesday at 5 pm and parishioners are welcome to attend. If you would like to share any appreciation or memory relating to Ron’s life and work with us please email it to John Bolger (bolger@waitrose.com) and he will copy it onto a remembrance page on the parish website.
Don’t forget that the Sunday obligation has been suspended. If you wish to attend a Sunday Mass you need to book a place with the co-ordinator for each church: John Bolger at Sacred Heart – 01692 581516 (see above for his email address); Fran Ludden – 07849 602227 (fran.ludden@btinternet.com); Richard McGreevy at St Helen’s – 01603 738255 (richardmcgreevy@supanet.com)
Weekday Masses: Tuesday: 9.30 at Sacred Heart, Wednesday: 9.30 at St Helen’s, Friday: 9.30 at St John of the Cross.
Please pray for our sick parishioners: Maria Wilby, Matt Butler, John Gowing, Derek and Frances Palman, Kevin Fitzmaurice, Mary Carr and Terry McIlwee.
We remember those whose anniversaries occur at this time: Audrey Barnes, Paul Finbow, George Mayer, Irene Harrison, Thomas Leader, Florence Loads, Margaret House, John Mardon and Christine Miller.
