FROM THE PARISH PRIEST The Sacraments of the Church: First Holy Communion: If you have a child who is eligible for FHC classes and you would like to enrol them for classes then please let me know (via email) over the next three weeks. I will need to pass your details to our catechists so that they can make contact with you, so please indicate in your email that I have your permission to do so. Confirmation: The same as above – please let me know so I can inform the catechists. Catholicism Today: I will be starting the RCIA programme for adult instruction on Friday the 16th of October. These classes are for anyone who wishes to become a catholic or for people who are already catholic but wish to find out more about their faith or would like a refresher on matters of faith. I anticipate having our first meeting at 6pm at the presbytery and then, depending on numbers, find a time and venue that suits the majority of people who wish to attend to minimise the number of journeys on the cold winter’s nights. I would hope to only host ONE series of classes in the parish. The classes are quite informal with plenty of time for discussion and questions throughout — but they are structured and run along a curriculum so that our time is fruitful and worthwhile. Please register your interest by sending me an email over the next few weeks. There is no charge for the course, however, I will encourage attendees to purchase one or two books that will help them in terms of reference and teaching. | |
| Faithful Flames Christmas Party: This will be held on Saturday 19th December, 2pm-5pm. There will be a QR code to bring up the form to sign in by 22nd November. Further instructions will follow. Beetle Drive at Hoveton: This will take place on 10th October at 2.30 pm. Watch out for further details of this enjoyable event. Quiz & Chips at Sacred Heart Hall : This will be held October 31st at 6.30 pm. More details to follow so get your teams together (max 6). Parish Christmas Fayre on Saturday 28th November. We welcome offers of help to run stalls and games on the day. Any ideas will be appreciated. Please speak to a member of the social committee. | The Harvest Festival at Sacred Heart will be held on Sunday 4th October. Please read the accompanying shopping list for items to bring. These should be put into the baskets at the front. No plastic bags or containers please! We hope for a beautiful display! St. John of the Cross. Harvest Mass: Sunday October 4th. You are invited to bring one or two dry goods ie. tins, packets etc for the Food Bank. Please bring up to the altar at the offertory. Place in baskets provided. A Display of Cards for Sale is now on the stand at the back of the church . These include sympathy, birthdays, get well cards. Please pay cash into the marked slot on the wall. |
