Dear Friends,

Today’s Gospel is about prayer. First we have the Lord’s own prayer to his heavenly Father. Jesus follows this with a teaching on prayer that emphasises persistence in prayer. He assures his listeners of the goodness of God who only wants the best for his children. We pray so that we may understand the ways of God and develop a relationship with the one who knows what we need. Prayer is not about changing God, but to ask God to change us, to form us as his children.

God bless

 Father James

For the Senior Citizens’ Group at North Walsham there are no further meetings during the summer recess. The Computer Workshop will still be available.

Canonisation. John Henry Newman will be canonised on Sunday, 13th October. If anyone would like to be there I can provide details of a group pilgrimage to Rome from 12th-15th October.

Do you wish you had more confidence to explain your faith? A team from Catholic Voices will be running a training day on 7th September in the parish hall at Wymondham from 11am – 4 pm. It will include practical skills in talking about controversial topics ‘without raising your voice’. If you would like to attend you will need to book a place in advance. Contact Rebecca Bretherton at: evangelisation@rcdea.org.uk  This is a free event. Drinks will be available and you will need to bring a packed lunch.

The next Forum at North Walsham will take place after the 11 am Mass on Sunday, 18th August.

This year’s Memorial Garden Mass at North Walsham will be held on Tuesday 20th August at 6pm. Parishioners are welcome to attend this beautiful outdoor Mass, when we remember past friends of the church here. Should the weather be unsuitable it will take place in the church.

Please think about the coming nominations we are going to need for three new PPC representatives by this coming October. Elaine Haughton, (St Helen’s) Becky Walker (Sacred Heart) and Carol Shippey (St John of the Cross) will be stepping down from their three year terms. Nomination forms will be available in the next few weeks. We thank them for the contribution they have made to the life of the Parish.

A Cambodian style Mass will be celebrated at Aylsham on Friday 16th August at 9.30am.
