Dear Friends

For the next five Sundays we turn from St Mark’s Gospel to that of St John. The overall theme is Jesus the Bread of Life. The multiplication of the food offered by the small boy is in itself inadequate for feeding the vast crowd. But in the hands of Jesus it becomes more than enough—with some left over! St John clearly sees this event as a fore-taste of the Eucharist. Our gifts of bread and wine, brought in process-sion as the Offertory, are taken and transformed into the body and blood of the Risen Christ. This is an even greater miracle than the mul-tiplication of the loaves and fish and one that is given to us whenever we gather to celebrate Mass.

God bless

Father James

Today after the 11 am Mass next Sunday Michael Fogarty’s ashes will be buried in the Memorial Garden at North Walsham.

Calais Refugee Sock and Pants Collection – Rob says thanks to all those who have sponsored him to regrow his beard by donating either cash or socks and pants. He had a collection of 75 pairs of pants and 164 pairs of socks which he took over to CamCRAG in Cambridge that was in time for the Convoy to Calais on the 21st July. Rob and Clare are planning to join the Convoy on the 12-14th October and will have 2 spare seats in their car if anyone else would like to join them.

We pray for all our sick parishioners, including Mary Johnson and Joe Seely.

We also pray for Veronica Williams who died Saturday fortnight ago; we remember her family and friends at this time. Her Requiem Mass will be at 11.30 am on Wednesday 1st August at St John of the Cross, Aylsham. .

We pray for all those whose anniversaries occur at this time including: Edmond O’Flaherty, Mary Bianco, Derek Rayfield, Michael Conroy, Elizabeth Hebden, Richard Furlong, Kathleen Harkin, Norah Nyland, June Ennals and Ronald Perkins.
May they rest in peace.
