TODAY is the First Sunday of Advent, when we start our journey preparing for the coming of our Lord. (Our Sunday Readings are now taken from Year B) Bioshop Alan has some suggestions for Advent which will be given out today.
THIS AFTERNOON at St John of the Cross, Aylsham, there is the annual Advent Service of Evening Prayer at 4pm: it is an opportunity for the whole parish to come together at the start of our Advent Journey. This beautiful service has been much appreciated over the past few years. Drivers, please do offer lifts to those who may not otherwise be able to go along.

FIRST COMMUNION PROGRAMME 2015 gets underway on Saturday 6th December at 2.30am in the Parish Hall at North Walsham. A short enrolment ceremony will take place at some time within the next few weeks.
CHURCHES TOGETHER ON THE BROADS The Annual Carol Service will be held on Sunday 7th December at 7.00pm at St Mary’s Church, South Walsham, followed by mince pies and mulled wine. Everyone is welcome.
PARISH CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY (Following the Carol Service at North Walsham) at4-6pm in the parish hall on Sunday 21st December. Parents are asked to please sign the lists at the back of the church, as soon as possiblefor your child to attend. Children will need to have an adult in attendance but all parents will be welcome at the party – only children’s food will be provided. Any children who would like to take part in the Nativity Story (at 3.00pm on 21st and 6.00pm on 24th, please attend the Children’s Liturgy on Sundays for rehearsals.
“CLOTH for the CRADLE”– candlelit service of music, stillness, readings and reflection for Advent, is on Sunday 7th December at 4pm at St Nicholas Church, North Walsham and supported by the St Benet Singers. All are welcome. Please see flier in the church porch.

CHRISTMAS CARDS – on sale in the Parish Christmas cards in aid of Support Cambodia will be available for sale in the Sacred Heart Church hall after Mass on the Sundays leading up to Christmas. Also available are cards from Fairtrade, displayed on a table in the church porch at North Walsham.
