Dear Friends,

Today we hear the story of the Prodigal Son. It could also be called the story of the indulgent father. Yet this is how Jesus shows us what God is like – a far cry from the angry and vengeful God that we are sometimes tempted to imagine.

This weekend we will be supporting CAFOD’s appeal for the victims of the disaster in Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi. As funds are needed urgently I have already sent £500 to CAFOD on your behalf.

God bless

Father James

Lenten Alms in all our three communities are for the Church in Need. (North Walsham see wall slot).

Today, Sunday (NW) we have a Family Mass: It is Mothering Sunday.

Thank you for supporting CAFOD’s Family Fast Day. Our parish raised £ 963.23 (to date). Thank you for fasting in solidarity and please keep our brothers and sisters in your prayers throughout Lent.

On Monday 1st April: Senior Citizens’ Group (NW) meet for the usual morning activities: in the afternoon they will be playing bingo. The next meeting will be on 29th April owing to a cancelation on 8th.

Stations of the Cross (NW) at 12noon, (Aylsham) after the Friday morning Mass and (Hoveton) after the Wednesday Mass.

Lenten Lunches (NW) are held at different venues at 12.30pm on Thursdays. This week (4th April) at the Sacred Heart: the speaker is Father James.   A simple lunch, £4 – goes towards Christian Aid. Please see poster for the area.

At Aylsham Lenten Lunches will be held in the area. Please see the list on poster for times and venues in the coming week.

Catholic East Anglia newspaper available in churches.

Readers & Eucharistic Ministers who would like to do their ministries during Holy Week/Easter, kindly add your names to the lists provided. NB – not everyone will necessarily be able to do what they have signed up to. We want to involve parishioners from the whole parish. Also needed people for foot-washing; please see lists. This is the last Sunday for signing the list.

The inaugural meeting of the Sacred Heart Parishioners’ Forum will take place in the church following the 11am Mass on Today. Please note the change of venue. Parishioners are invited to raise any concerns they may have which directly affect the Sacred Heart Community. Pl. see your PPC representatives for further information.,

As a LiveSimply Project for Lent – the Welcome Rucksack Project. Please take a list and bring any donations to our churches during Lent.

For Hoveton. Elaine Haughton would be grateful for volunteers to help with refreshment at 5.30pm Mass on Saturday evenings.

Also at St Helen’s. On Saturday 6th April, following the Mass, the next St Helen’s Community Forum takes place. The meeting will last no more than 30 minutes. All are welcome.

An Ecumenical Prayer Meeting will be held at Worstead Baptist Church on Monday 1st April at 7pm. Parking – on the road, in Day Centre car park or at the back of the church. All are welcome.

Sign CAFOD’s online Petition to the Prime Minister for urgent climate change action to limit global temperature rise to 1.5C. Go to cafod.org.uk and choose climate under the heading of Campaign or sign on CAFOD Petition form of collective signatures.

We pray for all our sick parishioners: Mary Johnson, Joe Seely, Maria Wilby, Frances Palman, Thomasina Hopkins, Matt Butler, Peter Lloyd and John Gowing.

We pray for all those whose anniversaries occur at this time including: Alice Bean, Augustus Heralty, Eric Moll and Paul Humphrys.
May they rest in peace.

Suggestions for Lent. Pray for ALL Mothers around the world on this Mothering Sunday.
