Dear Friends, The key word in today’s readings is ‘chosen’. Amos is chosen by God to prophesy to the people of Israel; the twelve apostles are chosen by Jesus and sent out to preach; and St Paul reminds us that ‘we are claimed as God’s own, chosen from the beginning’. Dear Friends, A friend recently moved to a new parish south of London. She has attended Mass half a dozen times and in that time no one has greeted or welcomed her. I wonder how long it will take for the people of that parish to realise that there is a newcomer in their midst who could enrich the life of that community.
